Eydie joined United Way of Greater New Bedford in 2025 as the Financial Wellness Facilitator, where she plays a key role in empowering individuals through financial education and support. Through her work with Financial Wellness for Work and Financial Wellness for Women, she helps participants build practical money-management skills, strengthen financial confidence, and create pathways toward greater stability.

Beyond her work at United Way, Eydie is deeply engaged in the Greater New Bedford community. She serves as a Board Member and Chair of Events for the Cape Verdean Association of New Bedford, where she contributes to cultural programming and organizational leadership. She also volunteers her time with Dia Das Criancas (Children’s Day) as a committee member, helping coordinate logistics, funding, and programming for this bi-annual celebration.

Additionally, she supports Sacred Birthing Village, providing resources to BIPOC mothers throughout their birthing journeys.

Eydie’s commitment to service and leadership has earned recognition, including the Black Excellence on the Hill Award (2026).

A proud speaker of both Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese, Eydie brings cultural strength and connection to everything she does. What she loves most about her work at UWGNB is being part of a supportive team that shares her dedication to uplifting the community. She finds it especially rewarding to meet people where they are and help them grow their skills and self confidence.

Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Eydie expresses her creativity through upcycling—transforming her family’s hand me downs into vintage, classy, and uniquely “her” fashion pieces. She’s also an avid fan of high school sports and a devoted documentary and series watcher—she embraces a good binge.

Her favorite quote is:
“Your real life begins when you stop auditioning for the world and start listening to yourself.” – Unknown
