John Silva has served as the Director of the New Bedford Community Connections Coalition at United Way of Greater New Bedford since 2024. In this role, John leads the Coalition’s efforts to strengthen neighborhood-based networks of family support throughout New Bedford and surrounding communities. His work centers on ensuring NBCCC plays a significant role in developing collaborative, community-rooted strategies that uplift families and promote long-term well-being.

John continues to pursue learning through professional development and leadership programs. He holds multiple certifications, including:

  • Nurturing Father Group Facilitator
  • QPR Instructor Trainer
  • Parent Café Trainer

He is also a graduate of Leadership South Coast.

Deeply engaged in community initiatives, John serves on numerous committees and boards including:

  • New Bedford Opioid Task Force
  • Greater New Bedford Allies
  • Youth Violence Prevention Intervention Steering Committee
  • Fatherhood Engagement Leadership Team (FELT)
  • New Bedford DCF Area Board
  • Healthy Families Advisory Board
  • Fall River Preservation Society

His commitment to service extends into his personal life as well - he has volunteered in hospice care and supported seasonal overflow shelters in the Fall River area.

In addition, John is a Realtor in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island and has been recognized professionally as a Multi-Million Dollar Producer.

Outside of his professional role, John values time spent with his family and is passionate about holistic wellness practices. A Reiki Master, he brings a grounded and compassionate approach to all he does.
