Paula Montgomery joined United Way of Greater New Bedford in 2021 and brings a strong commitment to community engagement, women’s leadership, and equitable access to opportunity. As the Women United Director, Paula is passionate about connecting with women who want to uplift others and helping them engage in meaningful, impactful ways within the community.

Paula holds an Associate’s Degree from Bristol Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Emerson College, and a Master of Public Administration from Bridgewater State University. She is also a proud graduate of Leadership Rhode Island’s Lambda II class of 2015.

Deeply involved in regional initiatives, Paula serves on the:

  • Birth to 3rd Committee
  • Women’s Alliance of Southeastern Massachusetts
  • New Bedford Works Board

She also volunteers annually with the New Bedford Half Marathon, demonstrating her commitment not just professionally, but personally, to the vitality of the region.

Her dedication has earned her notable recognition, including 

  • 2025 Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Community Service Award 
  • 2024 John Joseph Moakley Public Service Award from the MPA Program at Bridgewater State University

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, exploring the outdoors, spending time at the beach, hiking, and being with family and friends.

A fun fact about Paula: she is the youngest of six children—all born within just seven and a half years.
