Telma Rosa Silva has served as a dedicated Family Support Worker at United Way of Greater New Bedford and the New Bedford Family Resource Center since 2023. In her role, she assists families with children across the Greater New Bedford area in reaching their self identified goals by providing information, resources, and guidance on local and state services. Telma works closely with parents, children, teens, grandparents, guardians, and others involved in each family’s support system - using a strength based approach to help build stability, confidence, and long term success. She assesses family needs, recommends services and supports, and walks alongside families to ensure they have what they need to move forward.

In addition to her work at United Way, Telma is a certified Real Estate and Tax Preparation professional, bringing practical expertise that strengthens the support she offers. Fluent in Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, and Spanish, she connects authentically with families from diverse backgrounds and ensures they feel heard, respected, and empowered.

Telma’s favorite part of her work is being able to support and uplift families while making a meaningful impact in her community. Outside of work, she enjoys being around people -especially her family - and loves going for walks, singing loudly, spending time outdoors, and helping families find their perfect home.
